Photonamic GmbH & Co. KG (Photonamic) today announced that the European Commission has granted Orphan Drug Designation for the company’s 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) for the diagnosis of ovarian cancer. 5-ALA is meant as an intraoperative imaging agent to assist surgeons during ovarian cancer surgeries.
